Why We Run in 2026

For over two decades, Kids of Africa has gathered thousands of Ugandans to run for causes that matter — from sanitation to menstrual health. This year, we are taking on the biggest challenge yet: Gender-Based Violence.

An estimated 95% of women in Uganda have experienced some form of gender-based violence. It is not a distant statistic. It is your neighbour. Your colleague. Your family. It is happening in homes across Uganda right now.

And the shelters that protect survivors? They are closing. One by one, as international funding dries up, Uganda’s GBV sanctuaries are shutting their doors — leaving women and children with nowhere safe to go. We run because they need us to.

KIDS OF AFRICA RUN 2025

The Kids of Africa Run 2025 aimed to raise awareness and promote the use of reusable sanitary pads to keep girls in school. The proceeds will support Kids of Africa’s Menstrual Hygiene Management and Education Project in collaboration with Days For Girls, an international NGO dedicated to eliminating the stigma barriers related to improving menstrual health, education, and livelihoods for women and girls.
