KIDS OF AFRICA RUN is immensely proud to partner with DAYS FOR GIRLS in a joint effort to eliminate stigma, and provide awareness and training on menstrual health for girls.

Days for Girls – www.daysforgirls.org – is an international organisation that works to eliminate the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation so that women and girls have improved health, education and livelihoods. It increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global and local partnerships, cultivating Social Enterprises, mobilizing volunteers and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigma and limitations for women and girls.

Days for Girls manufacture washable reusable pads which are quite different from the design used by other producers. The kits are made as a result of extensive research that is followed by extensive feedback and designed to meet unique cultural and environmental conditions in communities throughout the world.

DFG also developed a health education curriculum that would be included in each DfG Kit distribution. With user-centred product design and curriculum in place, a Social Enterprise program that enables local women to start their own Days for Girls businesses and serve as vital thought leaders and suppliers within their own communities were launched.

Therefore, Kids of Africa and Days for Girls undertake to work together to meet their organisational objectives through the creation of synergy in their mutual work in Uganda.

Kids of Africa and Days for Girls will concretely work together to:

  1. Increase young people’s awareness about best menstrual hygiene practices, broader SRHR, health, livelihoods, and education programming.
  2. Support training opportunities to make reusable sanitary pads by adolescent girls and young women in livelihood outcomes by shattering the limitations and taboos related to menstruation concerns.
  3. Strengthen partnership and collaboration in advocacy for sustainable menstrual care solutions and health education initiatives.
  4. Establish an enterprise Centre to aid training and production of reusable menstrual sanitary pads at KOA facility and DFG will be the sole supply of the production materials.
